Application of modified calcium carbonate in polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
Calcium carbonate is a widely used inorganic filler in polymer composite materials. Adding inorganic fillers such as calcium carbonate to rubber and plastic products can improve the heat resistance, wear resistance, dimensional stability, and stiffness of the products, and reduce the cost of the products. However, the hydrophilic and oleophobic surface properties of inorganic fillers make them poorly compatible with polymer materials. Therefore, irregular aggregates are easily formed during processing, resulting in uneven dispersion within the polymer, thus creating interfacial defects and reducing the physical and mechanical properties of the products. In order to overcome the inherent shortcomings of calcium carbonate application and improve its compatibility and dispersibility with polymer materials, so that it becomes a functional reinforcing and toughening filler, research in this area has been very active in recent years [1, 2].

Energy conservation and emission reduction require persistent efforts
Energy conservation and emission reduction, and environmental protection have become a fundamental national policy of our country. In accordance with the unified national requirements, all units have formulated corresponding energy conservation and emission reduction targets. Some units have achieved their energy conservation and emission reduction targets ahead of schedule due to effective measures, which is commendable. However, achieving the targets does not mean that we can relax our efforts and loosen policies on energy consumption and pollutant emissions. I believe that energy conservation and emission reduction should continue relentlessly even after the targets have been achieved.

The function of light calcium powder and its milling equipment
Light calcium powder, also known as light calcium carbonate, is produced by calcining raw materials such as limestone to produce lime, the main components of which are calcium oxide and carbon dioxide. The lime is then slaked with water to form lime milk, which is then carbonated by passing in carbon dioxide to produce a calcium carbonate precipitate. Finally, after dehydration and drying, it is pulverized by a lime pulverizer. Alternatively, it can be produced by a double decomposition reaction between sodium carbonate and calcium chloride to generate a calcium carbonate precipitate, followed by dehydration, drying, and pulverization. Because the sedimentation volume of light calcium powder (2.4-2.8 mL/g) is larger than that of heavy calcium powder (1.1-1.4 mL/g), it is called light calcium powder.

Calcium carbonate has a wide range of applications and comes in many varieties. From a mineral composition standpoint, calcium carbonate is known by names such as calcite, large calcite, small calcite, coarse crystal, Iceland spar, marble, limestone, Hanbaiyu (a type of white marble), limestone, lime rock, gray rock, stalactite, stalagmite, stone pillar, stone curtain, travertine, chalk, aragonite, and others; from the perspective of sedimentation volume, there are heavy calcium carbonate (heavy calcium), light calcium carbonate (light calcium), and precipitated calcium carbonate; and from whether or not it has been modified, there is ordinary calcium carbonate and active calcium carbonate.

Ultrafine calcium carbonate helps to comprehensively enhance the value of non-woven fabrics
Non-woven fabric, also known as spunbond, is not actually fabric in the true sense, but only resembles fabric in appearance and some properties. The global pandemic in 2020 led to masks and protective clothing becoming important fast-moving consumer goods, bringing non-woven fabrics into the public eye. Non-woven fabric production has seen rapid development in the last ten years, with manufacturing processes becoming increasingly mature and market demand steadily increasing. It can be said that both the supply and demand market situation is very good. Ultrafine calcium carbonate, as a widely used inorganic powder filler, can also be used in the production of non-woven fabrics, significantly reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
